WHATEVER happened to school uniform?
These pupils would have been in trouble if they had turned up on a normal school day looking like this.
They looked as if they were impersonating those tearaway girls at St Trinian’s.
But on this occasion, there was no reason for panic.
They were sixth-formers at Peers School, Littlemore, Oxford, and they dressed to add a bit of colour to the annual sports day in 1978.
It was their last day at the school, so no-one was going to take them to task for dressing so outrageously.
With blacked-out teeth, loose shirts, ill-fitting ties and the rest, they looked a fearsome bunch. In fact, we doubt they took part in too many sports in garb like that.
The only event they are recorded in was a light-hearted tug-of-war when they took on female members of staff.
Pupils had the last laugh – they beat the teachers by two pulls to one. Do you recognise yourself or anyone else in the picture?
