THIRTY children from Marlborough School and Woodstock Primary School volunteered to act as guides to school parties visiting Blenheim Palace in 1970. Carol Greenwood, Gary Charlett, Steven Branwell and Andrew Merritt are seen making notes about trees and other landmarks in the grounds.
Hamish Longden, seven, in the second picture, was one of 50 children who learned about Native Americans at an activity morning organised by the National Federation of Children’s Book Groups in 1979. They learned how to make cardboard and feather head-dresses, paint tepees, and make patchwork quilts and peg dolls.
Woodstock Primary School celebrated its centenary in 1954 with an open day, allowing parents to see their children’s work. In the third picture, Valerie Williams shows her skill at ironing, watched by Miss EA Burton.
