MANY of us may have complained about the recent snow, but we didn’t have to contend with quite as much as the two men in this picture.

It shows them trying to clear Oxford City’s football pitch at the White House ground, off Abingdon Road, during the big freeze of 1963.

The two club stalwarts, with shovels and wheelbarrows, struggled for days.

The pitch was covered in snow two to three feet deep and was out of action for a month.
