The changing face of Thame

A DROP-IN centre called Rainbow, based at Thame community education centre, opened in 1986 to give young mums a breather while shopping. They could drink coffee and chat while their children played. Linda Hillsdon is pictured with twins Laura and Vanessa.

The second picture dates from 1988, when a charity fair was held at the town hall. Twelve local and national charities had stalls, and shared the profits with Thame Hospital League of Friends.

Eighty members and friends attended Thame British Legion’s dinner-dance at the Swan Hotel in 1969. Some of the guests are seen in the third picture admiring the raffle prizes.
