PLANS including this building were up for approval from Oxford City Council for the corner of St Aldates and Thames Street in November 1987.
The council said it was selling the site and the Trafalgar House Development company submitted this project.
Along with that, another 22 schemes were submitted when the city council announced the proposed sale.
The Trafalgar House Development company planned a 26,250sq ft office block – but the block that sits on the spot today is quite different.
The building, if it had been chosen, would have extended from the Apollo pub in St Aldates to the corner of Thames Street. At the time, it would have replaced a derelict restaurant, shop and a small grassed area.
The Trafalgar House proposal was recommended for approval by the council’s estate and finance committees at the time.
