TWO thousand people attended the fifth annual Ferry Hinksey Flower Show and Fete organised by the North Hinksey Horticultural Society in August 1989.
Martial Arts demonstrations and dancers from the Doyle School of Irish Dancing (pictured) helped make the afternoon go with a swing, although the hot dry summer meant flower and vegetable exhibits were down on previous years.
All the proceeds form the event – which ended with a barn dance – went towards giving local old folk a 'slap-up dinner and entertainments evening'.
