ENTRANTS in St Barnabas First School's summer fete fancy dress competition lined the streets of Jericho on June 16, 1981.
The procession, led by Kennington Youth Band, went from St Barnabas' Church, Canal Street, to the school off Hart Street, where the competition was judged and the fete opened by Father Michael Wright.
David Jackson, dressed as a pirate, won the under-four category and Thomas Pillin as Tin Man won for the under-sixes.
Paddington Bear doppelganger Rachel Atikinson won the seven-to-eight group and Helen Kilby won the over-nines as 'meal on wheels'.
There was also a five-a-side football competition between nine local pubs and a display of gymnastics by the schoolchildren.
St John Ambulance hosted a display at the event and the Oxford City Morris Men also entertained visitors for the day.
