COUNTRY and western fans went on the warpath at BBC Radio Oxford on May 12, 1979, protesting about a one hour cut in their beloved Sunday Country Pie Show.

About 30 fans of the show, pictured wearing full cowboy attire and carrying signs painted 'Country pie for Sunday lunch' also presented a petition at the radio station calling for more country music.

Programme organiser Keith Salmon said: "An audience survey showed the audience was holding up strongly for the first hour and fell very sharply away after that."
