A PRAM race was a highlight of Headington British Legion's first Pot and Winkle club night in September 1966.
Contestants ended up in the legion's clubhouse in Edgecombe Road very much wetter inside and out.
This was after they had to drink three bottles of beer and change places twice on the circuit of the Barton estate.
First home were Mr J Trendell and Mr E Ballard, closely followed by the three other "mother and daughter" teams - all in fancy dress.
The branch was hoping to make the club night an annual event.
After the pram race, it was the children's turn to parade in fancy dress.
The judges chose four-year-old Corinne Holloway for the first place, dressed in nothing but leaves and carrying an apple.
John McDowell, half in shorts and half in cricket whites, and carrying racket and hockey sticks, came second.
Coming in equal third were Rosemary Wallis and Yvonne Cox as Lady Godiva and a Bunny Girl respectively.
