ELDERLY and disabled people had a new form of transport in the shape of a Red Cross ambulance.
The second-hand vehicle was given to the Charlbury Red Cross group in 1985 on permanent loan from their colleagues at Henley who did not need it.
Charlbury group leader Audrey Bridgman said: βIt is a boon for us. We have never had our own transport before.β
The ambulance was to be used to take elderly people to the day centre in the town and to ferry disabled people to their monthly club meeting at Milton-under-Wychwood.
Members pictured with the ambulance are, left to right, Susie Finch, Jessie Faulkner, Mrs Bridgman, Paula Aldworth, Penny Duquenoy and Jill Carter.
