MY FATHER, Mick (Michael) Cox, is in the photograph of the football team at Cowley St John School in East Oxford in 1955 (Memory Lane, January 18). He was 14.
As you said, they had just beaten Botley 4-1 in the Oxford Schools’ FA Senior Shield semi-final.
He thinks they did go on to win the Shield as, he says, they won everything that year, although the medal he found for it didn't have winner or runner-up on it.
Mick now lives in Cherwell Drive, Marston, aged 74. He continued playing football and cricket until he was 49.
