THIS is the fifth and final section of the panoramic photograph of pupils and staff at the Oxford Central Girls’ School in 1949.
We know the names of three of the pupils.
Wilfreda Gutteridge is fifth from the left in the second row from the front, while in the back row, Audrey Holliday is sixth from the left and Pat Palmer is 10th from the left.
As we have recalled, the school, whose roots can be traced back to 1797, was based in New Inn Hall Street from 1882 to 1959 when it moved to Headington and became Cheney Girls’ Grammar School.
The picture comes from David Brown, of Jordan Hill, Oxford, who bought it in a local charity shop.
