The tall lad at the back of the picture of Oxford City football supporters (Memory Lane, August 31) was Dave Underwood, with Colin Kirby and Alan Higgs to his right.

I was the police unit beat officer at the time and therefore watched a number of City games. One of the favourite things these lads would do was to wait for the Radio Oxford bulletins to give the latest score at the White House ground.

Once on the air, they would blow their air horns. The presenter in the studio would comment: “There must be a good crowd at the White House today!”

Dave Underwood was a regular supporter, working hard for the club home and away.

His claim to fame was that former England captain Bobby Moore came to City to work with him!

Mr Underwood then moved to Basingstoke and now has a season ticket for Oxford United but always follows the City results, and he is sure to be at the match when City visit Basingstoke later this season.
