TWO extra props were needed on stage at this production of Sailor Beware – and actor Clive Dandridge would have been lost without them.
Clive, a draughtsman with Southern Gas in Oxford, had to play his role as sailor Albert Tufnell on crutches after a fall while skiing in the Italian Alps.
He thought he would have to pull out, but the script of the Gas Amateur Dramatic Society’s show in 1979 was changed to accommodate his disability. He is pictured with fellow cast members Pauline Coombes, Reg Hogben and Pat Sansom.
