MEET the Broadway Belles – some of the stars of a show in downtown Blewbury.
There was glitz, glamour and laughs aplenty when the village staged its own version of the Hollywood Oscars in 1990.
More than 80 villagers took to the stage at ‘Blewbury Festival Hall’ for a three-hour show with film clips punctuated by stage performances.
The Oxford Mail reported: “The atmospheric production took the award ceremony off to the letter, and the audience played their part convincingly too, with black tie and feather boas the dress code for the evening.”
Hosts included villagers posing as Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Faye Dunaway and Clint Eastwood.
The Broadway Belles, who are pictured right were Marian Whiting, Erica Trewhella, Louise Butler, Lynne Gregory, Jane Gibson and Liz Loggie.
