I was thrilled to see a picture of my late mother in the photograph above the headline “Memories of Morris Motors” (Memory Lane, April 20).

She is to the right of Rita Holden who is seen presenting a retirement watch to Harry or Charlie.

Her name was Barbara Taylor (nee Mundy). I wonder if Rita, who sent in the picture, remembers her?

The family were a little surprised to see her in the photograph as she didn’t work there very long.

My elder sister, Janet, and brother Steven felt sad as they walked home from school and looked in the windows at other children with their mothers all cosy by the fire. They had to let themselves into our house and wait for mum and dad (Ron Taylor) to come home from work.

That did it! My mum couldn’t bear it and she quit her job to be with them!

Sadly, our parents died when they were young, but I carefully scour Memory Lane every week in the hope of seeing them.

My dad played a lot of local football for Oxford Boys and Oxford City – he was the elder brother of the much-featured Clive Taylor.

I was lovely to see this photograph of my mum – it cheered me up!
