You published a picture from Mike Siggery of the BMC Service Casuals’ football team in the 1960s (Memory Lane, February 9).
I was very disappointed with the quality of the photograph, and you missed out the most important man in our team – Mr Siggery, the manager.
He should have been seen on the extreme right of the back row, next to ‘Chalky’ Rees.
It was the team that lost 2-1 to Blackfriars, run by former Oxford United captain Ron Atkinson, in the Sunday League Cup final.
Albert Taylor wrote in to say that he was the manager and Mr Siggery was secretary, and that Ken Rees was never known as ‘Chalky’ (Memory Lane, March 16). To set the record straight, Mike Siggery was manager at that time – Albert Taylor took over as manager a few years later. Until then, Albert ran the line for us. Ken Rees was known as ‘Chalky’ to his friends.
