Kit Winchester, seven, found two cats quite a handful – or rather an armful – until his sister Ann came to the rescue.
These were among the animals on display at the Oxford and District Cat Club annual show in 1956.
The top prize at the show was shared by two unlikely contestants – a cat found wandering in Woodstock Road and another rescued from a fire in a malthouse in Tidmarsh Lane, Oxford.
Winning owners included Mrs I Webb, Mrs D Quartermaine, Ann Winchester and Mrs RA Gilbert, all from Oxford; and Helen and Barbara Butler, of Burcotnear Abingdon.
