A CHARITY football match featured some of the presenters who made their mark in the early days of BBC Radio Oxford.

The Radio Oxford Rockers’ team included Mark Kasprowicz, Garry Richardson, Tony Adamson, Phil Rapps, Mike Dickin, Gordon Rogers, Henry Aubrey Fletcher and John Simpson.

They faced a Radio One Top DJs’ XI including David Hamilton, Tony Blackburn, Noel Edmonds, Kid Jensen, Ed Stewart and Paul Gambaccini.

The match took place at Oxford City’s White House ground off Abingdon Road in 1976. It was one of a number of events organised by Radio Oxford staff to raise money for a host of good causes across Oxfordshire.

The programme, a copy of which was found in the extensive archives of Oxford City secretary John Shepperd, shows that a jousting tournament was staged by the Medieval Knights’ Society at half-time.

We’ve no idea what the score was. Does anyone remember the game?
