What a pleasant reminder of happy times at Donnington School in Oxford (Memory Lane, January 19).
Lessons were well structured and serious, and playtimes were terrific.
Playground games followed one craze after the other - conkers, skipping, whip and top, two-ball and handstands against the wall.
The highlight of the winter was a slide made from the ice on the frozen playground, and we all queued up to have a turn – quite exhilarating!
No health and safety issues then!

A further thought on my memories of life at Donnington Junior School (Memory Lane, March 16) – my brother who is older than me was also at Donnington and recalled hiding in a cupboard in order to miss the school dentist!
