I enclose a picture of my grandfather, who was a blacksmith in St Peter’s Place, Wallingford.
As you can see from the sign above, his name was Lansley, but he died when I was very young and I do not know his first name.
In the doorway with him are his son Charlie Lansley – who worked for him for a while but later went on to become a metal worker in a factory, I believe – and his grandson Geoffrey Booker, who was in the Army for a time and was at Dunkirk.
The picture was found in family belongings, but I have no idea when it was taken.
