It was a tight squeeze, but somehow 25 children into one 50ft long dragon does go. They provided the legs for the annual dragon procession through the town in 1979, commemorating a battle in the town in the year 752.
Burford School organised an end-of-term activities week, with a wide range of things for pupils to do. One highlight in 1988 was the work of the ambulance service – Andrew Temple, 13, is given a life-saving whiff of oxygen by ambulanceman Shaun Simpson.
The town’s street fair produced the usual large crowd in 1974 and one of the most popular attractions was the white elephant stall, with plenty of bargains still for sale.
