THESE three teenagers proved their skill as public speakers.
The 16-year-olds won a national junior public speaking competition organised by the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs in 1979.
Gareth Llewelyn, on the right, of Gidley Way, Horspath, spoke on Napoleonic model making while Alastair Douglas, left, of The Avenue, Kennington, and Simon Foster, of Woodcroft, Kennington, took the chair and proposed a vote of thanks to another speaker. They were all members of Abingdon Young Farmers’ Club.
