NINE mothers spent five months in 1986 sewing a giant tablecloth, which was to be the star prize at the village playgroup’s summer fair.

A DARBY and Joan Club opened in the village in 1962 and offered numerous activities, including billiards, table tennis, draughts, ludo and bingo.
