Gathering: These Scout leaders were pictured on a training course held at Bampton old school hall
I e-mailed the Scout leaders’ picture (Memory Lane, February 2) to Ray Applegate, who now lives in Northampton. He was group Scout leader with 1st Longworth Scouts for many years.
He had a lot to do with Scouting at Youlbury Scout Camp and the Abingdon District.
He remembers all the leaders mentioned by Fred Mogridge in the picture. He said that John Kirby was the Training Team Quarter Master. He also said that he went to France a few years ago and stayed at Tony Moss’s home, out in the wilds of France, for a couple of weeks.
He said the picture was taken at Bampton old school and he thinks it was probably a leaders’ training course.
