AMID all the glitter, the real meaning of Christmas is often forgotten. But these youngsters were determined to make sure the message of Christ’s birth was heard loud and clear.
As Christmas approached in 1964, they took part in the annual service outside Thame Town Hall, singing carols while behind them, a team of adults staged a tableau depicting the Nativity.
The following year, there was a similar scene in St Giles, Oxford, below.
Passers-by, suitably wrapped up to keep out the winter evening chill, joined in an open-air carol service outside St John’s College.
