THE Mrs Mopps at the Horton General Hospital, Banbury, were in upbeat mood after beating off private competition to win a contract to carry on cleaning.
Their union worked with hospital managers to cut costs by more than £300,000 and beat three private firms for the three-year deal in 1985.
Laura Taylor, third from left, the hospital’s assistant administrator, joined the celebration with cleaning staff, left to right, Joyce Carpenter, Don Carderelli, Jacqui Page, Olive Williams and June Grummitt.
