Dad’s Army stars Clive Dunn and John Le Mesurier were among 500 people at the village’s 21st annual ball in 1973 in aid of the Ex-Servicemen’s Mental Welfare Society. Ball committee members Shirley North, Alma Rich and Brenda Lambourne presented  the tombola prizes that were on offer during the event.

Pupils showed great interest in building work at the village primary school when they took a break from lessons in 1969 to watch the foreman use an automatic level on the site of their new junior classrooms.

The finals of the Chinnor and District British Legion darts and domino leagues were keenly contested in 1968. Among those who competed with Mr and Mrs Lawrie (Red Lion), Mr and Mrs Munday (Bird in Hand), Mr and Mrs Avery (Wheatsheaf) and Miss C Munday and Mr R Hodges (Shoulder of Mutton), pictured above.
