OXFORD City Football Club marked its 75th anniversary with a dinner, dance and cabaret at Oxford Town Hall.

The celebration on May 23, 1958, included the presentation of an illuminated testimonial from the Football Association.

A copy of a commemorative menu card has been found by club secretary John Shepperd in his vast collection of archives.

Guests were treated to a grapefruit starter, followed by grilled fillet of sole, roast chicken, fruit salad and coffee.

There were toasts to the Queen, Oxford City Football Club, the Visitors, the Ladies and the Supporters’ Club.

The main City officers at the dinner were president Teddy Tobin, secretary Mr A J ‘Mac’ McGowan, treasurer Mr H F Simmons and coach Percy James.

Music during the evening came from Sydney Jerome and his Orchestra and the cabaret was ‘London’s sparkling floor show, Vanity Fayre’, presented by Edwards and Dare.
