- Dawn Coppock, 14, left, and Paula Matthews, 12, proved they were experts in the old-fashioned art of bed making. The two St John Ambulance cadets from the Northway group won a silver cup and shield in a bed-making and nursing competition in 1979.
- Caroline Brown, who ran an art and drama club for five- to 10-year-olds, shows Linda Hemming, 12, some of the hand-made puppets her pupils had created. They were on display at Cowley Community Centre’s open day in 1973.
- Jim Shepherd, show secretary of the Oxford 1910 Caged Birds Society, was a budgerigar enthusiast, owning 150 of them. He travelled hundreds of miles to shows all over the country. He is pictured in 1976 with some of the trophies his birds had won.
