ALL OUR OWN WORK

EASTER bonnets at Fyfield Parochial School, near Abingdon, in 1975 ranged from flower-decked creations to birds’ nests.

Pictured left to right are pupils Mark Hemmings, Matthew Hawkins, Linda Hodgkinson and Julie Stratford. Teacher Pamela Feast said: “We were amazed at some of the creations – every child put their hearts into this, with a minimum of parental help.”

Walter Winstone makes sure his hat is correctly positioned before the Easter bonnet parade for retired car factory workers at Morris Motors Social Club in 1970.

His attention to detail paid off – he won the prize for the best entry by a man for the second year running with this splendid creation.
