Pupils at the nursery school were doing a project on buses in 1981, so what better way to learn than to have a ride – on a bus?
Teacher Jill Tuffley arranged for all 80 children – 40 at a time – to travel around the village on an Oxford South Midland bus.
The children bought their sixpenny ticket and set off, with driver Walter Chappell at the wheel.
Members of the Abbey School trampoline club embarked on a 24-hour sponsored bounce, above, in 1982 to raise money for gym equipment.

Games, music, videos and a bouncy castle were among the other attractions that kept the children entertained.
