EastEnders’ star Shreela Ghosh was a big hit with the crowds who flocked to the grounds of the Old Rectory for the village fete. She is pictured with Paul Nixey, five, his sister Ruth, two, and James Clements, eight. The fete, which included a display by the RAF Robins parachute team, raised £1,000 to be split between the village church, school, hall and youth club.
St Peter’s Church became a sea of colour in 1969 when an Eve of Michaelmas Flower Festival was held. Four-year-old Robert Craddock is pictured admiring one of the displays. The festival was organised to raise money for the church and village hall.

There is a time for work and a time for play at the village school. Four pupils, left to right, Harriet Maas, Georgina Sheap, Lindsay Harbottle and Jonathan Ford, have fun in the playground during a break in lessons in 1995.
