Pupils at the village school entered a national contest to produce a video film about safety in 1987 – and chose safety in their playground as their theme. Laura Woodfield, 10, is pictured filming her friends with assistant Lauren Oliver, also 10, right. While they were filming, other pupils were working on a jingle for the video.
Children made their school history lesson come alive in 1988 when they re-enacted a Civil War battle. With children from Stadhampton, they fought the Battle of Edgehill in the school playground. Cavalier Ian Batchelor, five, is pictured preparing for war. Headteacher Tina Ruff said: “Dressing up in the costumes of the time seemed a good idea.”
Youngsters on a youth training scheme were praised after spending six weeks rebuilding a wall at St Giles Church in 1985, to stop cattle straying into the churchyard. “We are very impressed,” said the Rector, the Rev Neil Jefferyes. Pictured left to right are Stephen Poole, 17, Wayne Carrington, 16, Antonio Soares, 16, and Andrew Baxter, 16.
