Pupils at Upper Heyford School staged an ambitious production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth in 1982, to great acclaim from their audiences. The star of the show was William Thomas, 12, who played the title role after studying performances of professional actors at Stratford. He is pictured being surprised by Banquo’s ghost (Todd Ayer).
More than 100 senior citizens from Upper Heyford and neighbouring villages were invited to a three-course lunch at the United States Air Force base in 1978. They were guests of the Wives’ Club at the Heyford and Croughton bases. It was eighth time the party had been held.
Upper Heyford School borrowed a number of exhibits from the county schools’ museum service to help them with their studies. Headmaster Ian White discusses with his class of lower juniors items that had just arrived.
