£1.3m bid to improve junction of M40
10:30am Thursday 11th October 2012 in News
PLANS have been announced to spend almost £1.3m to resolve problems at a traffic hotspot.
The Department of Transport has revealed it will make changes to junction 10 of the M40, at Ardley, to improve traffic flow. At the moment, northbound motorway traffic exiting at junction 10 to join the A43 regularly have to queue back on the motorway.
Work is expected to start in 2014 to turn Padbury roundabout into a hamburger-style roundabout where southbound traffic will continue directly to a new slip road off the Cherwell roundabout to the M40.
The approach to the Cherwell roundabout will be widened and traffic lights installed. The current M40 southbound slip road from Padbury roundabout will be closed.
