Man killed after accident on A40

A MAN in his 40s has been killed after a car accident on the A40 near Burford.

The incident happened at around midday today, at the junction with White Hill.

Emergency services were called to reports of a collision between a lorry and a car.

A spokesman for Great Western Ambulance Service said they attended the scene but the driver of the car, a man in his 40s, was dead by the time they arrived.

The lorry driver was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital by ambulance with minor leg injuries.

Fire crews from Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire attended the incident, as did the police.

The A40 was closed while they dealt with the crash, but was reopened by around 5.30pm.
