Why does Ms Higson (who stole food and baby items from Boots - presumably things she needed) get the same punishment as violent thug Rim Hayatleh?

Oh MS Higson stole things she needs! That's OK then!

Actually she made £35 on her shopping, sorry, shoplifting expedition, after paying the ludicrous compensation order which must cost fifty times its value to order and enforce.

If I were a copper (or a shopkeeper) I would be tearing my hair out. What on earth is the point of bringing someone to justice when the courts effectively look the other way? Why not just post a notice saying "help yourself - as long as its stuff that you 'need'"

The Oxford magistrates are a morally bankrupt lot. They have forgotten why we have laws. All a great big joke to them.

Untaxed cars are crushed, it is the governments way of punishing you for cheating THEM out of money, but don't buy insurance and it is ok by them.
