Bridge closed

TADPOLE Bridge near Bampton closed yesterday for six weeks so Oxfordshire County Council can repair damaged masonry.

Bampton-based haulier Steve Radband said he was having to go via Lechlade instead, adding some 35 miles to his journeys.

The county council has said the work cannot be carried out safely and effectively without closing the bridge. Pedestrians and cyclists can still use the 18th century crossing.

Headover says...

Why did they wait until schools were back to do this? There is FAR less traffic during the holidays. Now the surrounding roads are jammed every morning.
