A CHAMBER choir will be hoping to do more than raise the roof when it performs this month.

Choros is also helping to raise cash to pay for repairs to the roof of St Mary’s Church, in Upper Heyford, near Bicester.

The choir, conducted by professional musician Janet Lincé will be performing a Feast of Choral Music at the church on Sunday at 6.30pm.

Its performance will include tunes from Bach, Mozart and Tallis, part-songs by Finzi, Elgar and Stanford, jazz arrangements, and the choir’s rendition of negro spirituals.

Alison Cotter, treasurer St Mary’s Church, said: “Our church has been struggling for some while to raise funds for essential repair.

“Repairs to our roof alone are estimated at over £23,000 but there is so much more to be done.”

Entry to the concert will be free, but people will be asked to make a donation to the appeal. Refreshments will be available.
