Mini's sales are up again

Global sales of the Mini have risen by more than 18 per cent, latest figures from parent company BMW have revealed.
 

A total of 18,671 vehicles were sold worldwide in August, compared to 15,762 for the same month last year.
 

For the first eight months of the year, 192,652 cars have been sold, compared to 177,831 for the same period in 2011.
BMW said the largest Countryman model saw 63,817 vehicles sold since the beginning of the year, an increase of 22.9 per cent.

Is this really a cause for celebration. Every car that is sold is just another nail in the coffin for our Green and Pleasant Earth. The fact that BMW employ thousands in Oxford and contribute £millions to the economy does not excuse them from destroying the Earth, it is no coincidence that their factory is next to a big Tesco either. Mr Craig Simmons the elder member of the Green Party I expect a comment from you, seeing as you had my vote to try and stop this kind of thing. We need a cycle factory on the Cowley Plant site, not an Earth destroying motor factory.
