People convicted of offences at magistrates' courts around the county recently:

  • Maxine Charlett, 37, of Pegasus Road, Oxford, admitted possessing cannabis (Class B) in Middleton Stoney Road, Bicester, on July 4. Given a six-month conditional discharge and told pay £40 costs.
  • John Lewis , 70, of Queensway, Banbury, admitted driving without due care and attention in Queensway, Banbury, on June 5. Fined £65, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Given three penalty points.
  • James Ritson, 22, of Chichester Walk, Banbury, admitted possessing eight tablets of MDMA (Class A) and 5.49g of methylethylcathinoe (Class B) at Horse Fair, Banbury, on June 10. Fined £185, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs.
  • Andrew Burns-Mackie, 19, of Cherwell Avenue, Kidlington, admitted driving without a licence and without insurance in Bicester Road, Kidlington, on December 29. Fined £200, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £65 costs. Banned from driving for six months.
  • Krzysztof Szymkiewicz, 32, of Ferriston, Banbury, admitted driving without insurance, driving while disqualified and drink-driving in Broad Street, Banbury, on August 12. Had 151 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Jailed for 12 weeks “because you are a danger to the public, very high level of alcohol, third excess alcohol in four years, second offence of driving while disqualified in two years”.
  • Andrew Bone, 39, of Stockleys Road, Oxford, convicted of driving without insurance in Headley Way, Oxford, on November 14. Fined £600, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for six months.
  • Michael Field, 20, of Burwell Drive, Witney, admitted possessing cannabis (Class B) in Witney on June 21. Given a daily 7am-to-7pm curfew for four weeks.
  • Dowayne Colquitt, 24, of Heather Road, Bicester, admitted driving without insurance and drink-driving on the A41 and A34 at Wendlebury on August 4. Had 99 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Fined £935, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for two years.
  • Daniel Hanwell, 19, of Middleton Road, Banbury, admitted shoplifting three bottles of aftershave valued at £141 from Debenhams in Banbury on August 4. Fined £35 and £15 victims’ surcharge.
  • Marilyn Kennedy, 19, of King’s End, Bicester, admitted being drunk in public in Warwick Road, Banbury, on August 4. Fined £50, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £40 costs.
  • Terrence O’Neill, 47, of Hamilton Close, Bicester, admitted shoplifting five packets of cat food valued at £1.98 from Iceland in Bicester on June 22. Fined £80, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £20 costs.
  •  Liam Prestidge, 24, of Marlborough Road, Banbury, admitted shoplifting a bottle of cider valued at £4.79 from One Stop in Banbury on May 24. Fined £60, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £4.79 compensation.
  • Dean Taylor, 24, of Lucerne Avenue, Bicester, admitted drink-driving in Somerville Drive, Bicester, on July 4. Had 99 milligrams of alcohol in 100ml of blood, above the legal limit of 80 milligrams. Fined £300, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for a year.
  • Adam Whittaker, 30, of Greenfields, Upper Arncott, Bicester, admitted possessing three wraps of heroin (Class A) in Fox Lane, Bicester, on May 10. Fined £80, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £20 costs.
  • Robert Arkell, 31, of Sparsey Place, Oxford, admitted driving without a licence and without insurance in York Avenue, Oxford, on July 31. Fined £150, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £50 costs. Banned from driving for four months.
  • Jake Maloney, 20, of Fox Crescent, Oxford, admitted possessing two wraps of ketamine (Class C) in Queen Street, Oxford, on June 29. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £40 costs.
  • Wellington Silva, 26, of Hazel Close, Abingdon, admitted possessing cannabis (Class B) in Larkhill Road, Abingdon, on July 31. Given a nine-month conditional discharge and pay £50 costs.
  • Jason White, 42, of Fells Close, Long Crendon, admitted using racially aggravated threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress. Fined £400, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Also told to pay £250 compensation.
  • Lauren Corr, 23, of Station Road, Didcot, admitted theft of £100 cash in Craven Way, Didcot, between April 17 and 20, and theft of £10 cash in Wessex Road, Didcot, on April 21. Given a 12-week jail term, suspended for a year, with a year’s supervision and 120 hours’ unpaid work. Told to pay a total of £110 compensation and £45 costs.
  • Victor Lovas, 36, of Townsend Square, Oxford, admitted drink-driving in Henley Avenue, Oxford, on July 21. Had 52 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Fined £110, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for 16 months.
  • Martin Radbourne, 30, of West Court, Oxford, admitted taking a conveyance, namely a Shetland Speedwell 188 cabin cruiser boat, without the owner’s consent in Oxford on October 2. Also admitted failing to surrender to court bail on May 3. Given a 24-month conditional discharge and fined £50, a £15 victims’ surcharge and told to pay £155 costs.
  • Florian Ilie, of Bayswater Farm Road, Oxford, admitted drink-driving in Cowley Road, Oxford, on August 4. Had 66 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Fined £437, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £85 costs. Banned from driving for 18 months.
  • Ernella Meade, 27, of Meadow Gardens, Jackson Road, Oxford, admitted drink driving between Hinksey Hill and Botley on the A34 on August 3. Had 62 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath, above the legal limit of 35 micrograms. Fined £100 and a £15 victims’ surcharge. Banned from driving three years.
  • Shaheed Syed, 33, of Hurst Street, Oxford, admitted attempted to steal a pedal cycle in Thomas Mews, Rectory Road, Oxford, on August 3. Given a 12-month conditional discharge and told to pay £45 costs.
  • Nicholas Brain, 21, of Cherry Close, Oxford, admitted possessing cannabis (Class B) in Oxford on May 24 and July 2. Fined £50, a £15 victims’ surcharge and £35 costs.

What a joke, do we have to wait until he kills someone before the legal system treat these offences with the severity they deserve? 12 weeks - he will probably serve 4 if he's unlucky then what? straight back behind the wheel again, he has proved time and time again that he has no regard for the laws of this country. Its time the public were adequately protected from these persistent offenders.
