A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of rape after reports that a 57-year-old woman was attacked this morning.
Police were called to Oxpens Road, close to the ice rink, at around 6.40am.
Officers attended and arrested a 19-year-old man from Oxford on suspicion of rape and he is currently in custody at St Aldates.
Det Supt Paul Hayles said: “Officers responded very quickly to calls about the incident and made an arrest close to the scene.
"This is obviously a very distressing incident for the victim and she is being looked after by specially trained officers.
"There is a scene watch in place which may cause some concern in the local community but I would ask that any witnesses to this incident to contact police.”
Anyone with any information should contact Thames Valley Police via 101.
