WITNEY schoochildren have new play equipment after a five-year fundraising campaign.
The Friends of Blake Primary School raised almost £4,500 to buy the equipment, which includes rock-and-roll logs and a swinging log.
Work was completed on the project last week.
The parents and teachers association now plans to raise £5,500 to build more equipment, including a trapeze swing and net tunnel.
Friends member Nicky Mellings, 44, of Witney, said: “We are thrilled to have it finished because we have been talking about doing this for so many years.
“We have already got an element of activities at the school but we felt we needed an increased amount of adventure for the older children. The new equipment provides an element of teamwork for the children and it is slightly challenging so they have to have a bash at it.
“It also provides good fun and promotes healthy activity.”
Headteacher Mrs Marilyn Trigg said: “It is brilliant and the children are having such good fun on it.
“We wanted that piece of equipment for the older children because sometimes you can give everything to the little ones.
“It just means the children can play on the field during the winter and it gives them more things to keep them fit and healthy as well.”
She added: “I was here when it was just a dream so it is a nice closure to be here for the installation. It is wonderful.”
