Man dies after falling in river from mobility scooter

A man has died after he fell from his mobility scooter into the Thames.
The incident happened close to Abingdon Bridge, off Bridge Street, Abingdon, yesterday afternoon.
The man, who was in his 70s, was pulled from the water by a boater at about 2.35pm and flown by air ambulance to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital.
He was pronounced dead at 9pm, police said.
