Oxfordshire Basketball Cup
CHERWELL School, Oxford, are celebrating an Oxfordshire Cup basketball treble.
The boys served up a double success with victories in the under 15 and under 16 finals against European School, Culham at Oxford Brookes University Sports Centre.
And Cherwell made it a hat-trick when the under 16 girls defeated Oxford rivals Cheney at the same venue.
The under 15 boys ran out convincing 51-15 winners, with captain Issac Parry and Raheem Williams the leading points scorers and Idris Ahmed the most valuable player.
They now go on to play in the semi-finals of a national tournament at Nottingham Wildcats Arena on Sunday, May 20.
Cherwell’s under 16 boys overcame a slow start to triumph 65-47, with Calvin Tse the top scorer, while Adriel George was named most valuable player.
Captain Megan Gold-Blyth and Hannah Grieves were the leading points scorers in the under 16 girls’ 38-25 victory, with Alice Finch the most valuable player.
