  • "Local TV could be fun, but really is analogue TV going to be watched by anybody? Most modern TV sets are permanently tuned to digital and, more recently, IPTV.

Local budget content could just as easily be put out on an internet channel, with no need for a transmitter."

TV channel bid

OXFORD: Operators have begun bidding for the right to run a new Oxford TV channel.

The city is one of the first 21 areas in the UK given the opportunity to launch its own local TV station as part of a new Government initiative. Potential operators now have until August 13 to apply to Ofcom for a licence.
