Have a pint and do your bit for charity

BEER-LOVERS in Oxford have the chance to do their bit for charity and have a pint at the same time.

The Oxford West End Beer Festival kicked off yesterday across four venues – The Duke’s Cut, The Honeypot, The Oxford Retreat and The Jam Factory.

A wristband on sale for £5 gives the holder discounted beer and a percentage of the proceeds will go towards Sobell House hospice at the Churchill Hospital in Headington.

James Knox, the landlord of The Duke’s Cut, said: “The idea behind this is to raise money for charity. In the last festival we raised £895.

“There are about 40 beers and eight ciders on over the weekend and I have got some great local ales.”

The festival runs until Sunday.

Call me a kill-joy, but why not just donate the price of a pint?
