ANDREA Stewart runs the Wallingford group of Free Cakes For Kids.

She said: “After completing my Masters in Cake Decorating, I was looking on the internet, saw Free Cakes for Kids and thought it would be a fabulous community project to get involved in.

“I can’t eat all the cakes I love to make, but making cakes for children is a fantastic privilege and I’m thrilled to be involved.”

She added: “To start with, I found it a little nerve-wracking making the cakes – you want them to be so perfect for the child. But actually they think the cake is magical whether it is perfect or not.

“My most ambitious cake so far was probably a two-tier tractor cake I made for a little boy’s fifth birthday.

“I spent a lot of time on it and I really wanted it to have the wow factor. I got a message back saying he was absolutely thrilled with it, which really made my day.

“Since then I have made four others and each time I get incredible pleasure from knowing a child is enjoying a birthday cake I have made.”
