STREETS, pubs, clubs and even churches across Witney are set to be filled with a wide range of live music over the coming weeks.

Witney Music Festival starts on Wednesday and runs until Saturday, May 19.

A poster campaign for the event features shoppers in Marriotts Walk pictured listening to music genres they hate.

Some Witney residents involved in the poster campaign pictured below, from left to right, are Steve Lyons who hates ballads, Frances who dislikes folk music and Liz, who can’t stand techno.

The catchline is the festival will have something for all tastes.

Festival organiser Derek West said: “The idea behind the posters is the fact that the festival will have music for everyone. There are so many genres represented that if you hate this or that you will still be able to find the music you like at the festival.” Last year the festival posters featured cartoon images of Prime Minister and Witney MP David Cameron dressed as a rapper, goth, hippy and choir boy.

The music festival will take place at venues including Marriotts Walk Shopping Centre, Cogges Manor Farm Museum and St Mary’s Church.

Mr West added: “For me, the festival is all about community.

“I live in Witney and I think the town has a brilliant community and this festival is about encouraging that through music.”

Mr West said he hoped this year’s event will be bigger and better than last year, which attracted some 5,000 people across the events.
